After a remarkable few days at the newly nicknamed ‘Middle Eastlands’ the Blues faithful were given the chance to bask in the full spotlight of the footballing world.

And the City faithful must have thought all their Christmases, Birthday’s and Easters had come all at once when their new record signing Robinho scored 13 minutes into his debut. The thought of ‘this could really be it’ was still beginning to cross their minds though when Chelsea awoke them for their dreams of glory.

All too familiar poor City defending allowed Ricardo Carvalho to volley home three minutes later. From then on Chelsea were much the better side and ran out easy winners. The watchword for Manchester City fans over the next few months has to be ‘patience.’

Meanwhile Spurs’ poor start to the season has lead the bookies to make manager Juade Ramos just 4/1 to be the next premiership boss to leave his job. The Spaniard has overseen Tottenham’s poorest start to a campaign for some years and if they remain bottom much longer then that price could be value.

Favourite to go first is Bolton’s Gary Megson, which is a little lazy on the odds makers’ part as they always seem to plump for the Bolton boss. Steve Bruce is next at 6/1 despite Wigan’s good start with; the thinking he’ll leave for a bigger club soon.
